Dr. Strassberg is a licensed clinical psychologist. He earned his doctorate in Clinical and Developmental Psychology from Vanderbilt University in 1992; was then a faculty member in the nationally ranked Psychology Department of The State University of New York- Stony Brook; then moved to Oregon and established a private practice in the Portland area.
Dr. Strassberg has had a career-long interest in stress and coping, beginning with graduate school work on the inter-relations of parents' problem-solving difficulties, harsh discipline, and child behavior problems. His work assessing and intervening with high-conflict families evolved into assisting parents to manage stress during and after divorce, both in their personal and working lives.
The current focus of Dr. Strassberg's work is on assisting people in leadership positions (such as licensed professionals, executives, management, and business owners) to develop Stress Resilience—the ability to harness stress reactions and respond productively to challenging or adverse circumstances. The format for this work varies by client needs, and can be conducted on an individual basis; with pairs or small groups; or in seminar/workshop format.
Dr. Strassberg is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association, the Oregon Psychological Association, the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
